A few months ago, I posted an open thread about your proudest project, and the answers were truly awesome and inspiring. But I’m not one to rest on my laurels, so now I’m asking readers to share their ideas on a potential dream project. Here’s mine:
Most writers dream of having their own column, and I’m no exception. I love interviewing up-and-coming entrepreneurs and other people with interesting or unusual jobs, so my ultimate project would be to write a weekly or monthly column that allowed me to share those kinds of stories. It could focus on women entrepreneurs for a women’s magazine or website or it could be for a more general interest publication and cover both genders. The point is that I’d want to write a column that shows readers what is possible through creativity and determination. Some editors would call that “service through profiles.”
Don’t be shy! Sharing your dream project could help you define your goals for the future and move you that much closer to achieving them. If you could work on any creative project, what would it be?

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I have crazy dreams of opening up a private career coaching practice designed to help those trying to break into the publishing industry. Eventually, through my practice, I'd like to get clients informational interviews with people in the publishing world; organize an internship program; host readings centered around career and publishing how-tos; have regular meetups…
Too grand?
I'd like to tie it all in with my career/freelance-related writing. I've started writing a related ebook, but we'll see how far I get.
@Steph: I don't think this sounds ridiculous! You've obviously given a lot of thought into how you would combine your interest in publishing and writing with your desire to mentor other people in the industry. I love this idea, and I hope you follow through on it!
Stephanerd and Susan, try this idea for "crazy" but I love it, and my husband and I are actively moving towards this dream. My dream is to move back to TN and live on a sustainable organic farm, and raise alpacas. We want to share the farm with others, so I have a specific dream (besides the alpacas!) of creating one day programs, held at the farm, that provide the opportunity for junior girl scouts to earn badges that they would not otherwise be able to earn in a more urban environment. Girl Scouting impacted my life in a positive manner, and I want to give back.
Since I was 10 years old, I've always wanted to write a novel. That would be my dream project. Someday I'll actually start doing it.
My dream is to open an arts center or bookstore (perhaps a nice combo of both?) that would feature plenty of open readings by local authors, book signings, and all of those great little perks that the independent bookstores offer. Oh, and to break into a really big market with my writing. Big, as in O Magazine.
Being the life long book nerd, I am following my passion and doing my dream project with both Ijustfinished.com and stimulating-conversation.com really helping readers and writers enjoy their passion. Now I just have to figure out how to get paid for following my dream.
Don't tell anyone, it is kind of a secret, but I am moonlighting at night as a nurse, in order to pay for the dream, until I figure that getting paid issue out.

Oh, my dream project would be to write numerous best sellers that win Pulitzers and maybe even garners a Nobel for me.
It's uncanny how you'd ask about a dream project. I've been writing a blog for women in midlife & rediscovering their true selves approximately called "authentic woman". My dream is to have a column for women speaking on issues/advice/lessons learned from living life experiences… Anyhow that dream & to write a bestseller while relaxing in some quaint Italian Villa!
