Open Thread: What’s Your Favorite Part of Freelancing?

I loved last week’s open thread about writing clips, so I want to continue on a similarly positive note. We all know that freelancing has its moments of frustration (slow or no paying clients, for instance), but there are also plenty of reasons to love what we do.

I love that freelancing lets me explore many different topics. I can be writing product descriptions one day and a personal essay the next. There’s also variety in the people I interview and the clients I work with, so it never feels like the same old 9-5 grind.

What do you love about freelancing? Leave a comment and let us know!

This is a great topic for my birthday.

I love freelancing because I get to live many lives, follow and learn about anything that interests me, and earn my living doing it.

I love that I can be selective about the projects I take on, choosing only those that excite me.

    Well, when I’m doing well.

I love that I am able to work at any time during the day–or night!

Freedom–do what you want, work when you want, beg when you want.

  5. Cheryl Wright says:

My favorite part is the “free” in freelancing. I love the freedom – to choose when, where and what to write.

  6. Beth says:

I love the flexible schedule and the ability to choose what I want to do. I also love that on a day with no assignments it doesn’t mean that there’s no work – I can easily do research, reading, write an essay, work on a book outline – there’s never a dull moment!
