Death in the Family

My father passed away this afternoon. My mom didn't want to tell me on the phone, since I was alone in my apartment. But I knew from her deliberate lack of detail what had happened. I'd been expecting it, but not so soon. Please excuse the sporadic posts over the next few weeks, as I focus on family and healing.

My sympathies. Take your time. Real-world always trumps blog-world.

My condolences, also, Susan. Expecting it ahead of time takes away some of the shock but it's still death of a parent. My father and I were told straight up by the oncologist how my mother would pass away but the healing didn't begin until after her passing. It will take time to heal and there is no substitute for time.

I am so sorry to hear it. I've been following and enjoying your blog for a while now. I lost my dad when I was 12, so while a very different experience, I have been there. Take care of yourself and your family. We'll be here when you get back, ready to listen or not, and sending you the best of wishes till then.

Susan, I know what it feels like. My dad passed away in 2000. Our thoughts are with you and if you need anyone to talk with, please feel free to drop me a line.

Go and take care of what you need to. We will all be here when you get back, with arms wide open and hands full of kleenex.
