Calling All Muses!

I've been mulling over joining Media Bistro's AvantGuild for a few months now. Someone I met yesterday (more on that later) raved about it, so now I'm thinking it's time to get my butt in gear, pony up $49, and join. I already have a subscription to Writer's Market 2007, but Media Bistro has some great articles about pitching. What do you think?

I voted "Never heard of it" well, because I hadn't :)
I just checked it out though and it looks like you get a lot for your $49. If I were to sign up my only concern would be how much time I would spend on the website!! Already I am having trouble limiting myself to a certain blog-reading time. But the resources look pretty good. If you do sign-up I would be interested to hear how you like it.

I'm a Avant Guild member and the deciding factor for me was the How to Pitch and Pitches that Worked departments. The How to Pitch gives you detailed instructions on what the editor wants and doesn't want. I figured if I get one assignment from it, then paid for itself.

If anyone would like to see an example, let me know and I'll send one to you.

Hope this helps,

Terah

Thank you everyone for responding. I think I will join in a few weeks when things (hopefully) slow down.

Speaking of Media Bistro, check out this humorous post on Gawker.com: http://www.gawker.com/news/laurel-touby/over-200-people-applied-to-be-laurel-toubys-assistant-200-think-about-that-for-a-minute-233319.php.
